The BRAND NEW Companion AquaHeat Lithium Gas Shower is the shower to have. Instead of being run off 12V or even Solar this shower runs off a highly advanced Lithium Ion battery and gas.
The AquaHeat Lithium Powered Gas Hot Water System by Companion is the new and improved model from the AquaCube. Companion has introduced a simple to use navigation experience for their AquaHeat system. The experience is not only easy, but safe, for inexperienced or younger campers. Both the weight and size footprint will be a bonus that all campers would love.
The AquaHeat comes pre-packaged with the unit, a 1.5m Pump Hose with snaplock fitting, a generous 2.5m shower hose, that has an on/off switch along with a multiple adjusting shower rose head. The 5m power cord is really useful as it allows you to power this unit easily from your vehicle or camper with ease. Once the lithium battery is charged, you can pack away your charging cable.
The lithium battery system will comfortably last 45 minutes, but let’s be serious, who has a 45 minute shower in the bush? If the power does drop, simply plug the AquaHeat lithium shower into a 12V cigarette socket. It will charge your lithium battery up and provide you with power to your shower at the same time.
The kit does not come with:
The unit could not be any simpler to use. Simply screw in a Companion portable propane bottle to the unit, or affix a regular gas bottle with a gas hose. Use soapy water to check for any gas leaks.
Next, attach both the pump hose and the shower hose to the unit using the quick connections. Drop the water pump into a freshwater source (not a river or stream though). Finally, power up the AquaHeat system and set the water temperate gauge to the desired level. Finally hit the start button and the water will flow through the shower head. If the water does not flow, try moving the shower head button to the opposite side. The shower head button allows you to stop and start the water with ease.
The unit is packed with some great safety features and meets all current AGA standards. The unit will only heat up to 50 degrees celsius which is more than enough for a hot shower. In most cases, the shower temperature usually sits around 35-38 degrees celsius.
The average run time for the appliance from a fully charged battery is between 45 and 50 minutes, before it will require recharging. The appliance can be operated whilst connected to AC or DC. The battery will accept charge if it is less than 12V whilst operating.
This is a well-priced, compact, and smart hot water system. We really like the fact you don’t have to rely on D Cell batteries for the ignition. The lithium battery system is the way to go in our opinion. The charging time is more than adequate. The ease of use was another feature we liked. This will appeal to campers who just like to keep things simple. The other bonus is the fact you can use gas canisters or attach the old gas bottle. Obviously, for a weekend stay the portable gas canister will suffice for a couple, but for an extended stay or larger family I’d suggest the use of a 2.5kg gas bottle with a gas hose.
Warranty : 36 months on system and 12 months on power pack.
Our only negative would be the lack of an AC plug in the kit. For an extra few dollars I think Companion should have added it into the pack.
